Born in York, PEI, Annette Campbell has a Bachelor of Music
degree from the University of
Prince Edward Island and a Master of Arts degree in
Musicology from McGill
University. After finishing her studies at McGill, she took
the position of Music Program Officer with the Canada Council for the Arts
in Ottawa.
In 2003, she returned to the Island to work as the
Administrative Coordinator with the Arts Netlantic research
project at UPEI. Annette currently owns and
operates a music teaching and arts consulting
business called All About Music and is the
General Manager for the PEI
Symphony Orchestra. She also teaches music
history courses sessionally at the University of
Prince Edward Island.
Annette joined the Board of
the PEI Council of the
Arts in the summer of 2003 and was Chair of the Board
until the summer of
2007. She is also a member of the PEI Registered Music
Teachers’ Association and the PEI
Writers’ Guild.
Annette is a mezzo-soprano, plays both piano and trumpet and
has been teaching music privately since 1985. She has performed
with a variety of different groups including the PEI Symphony Orchestra, the
Confederation Centre Brass,
the National Youth Band of
Canada, the Nova Scotia
Youth Orchestra, the Montreal
Symphony Orchestra Chorus, the Orpheus Singers, the St. Lawrence Choir, the
Bella Voce quartet and local bands Mystery Snail and The Hobbs.
Annette played the role of Marg Osborne in a production of
Don
Messer and the Early Days, appeared in ACT PEI’s
production of Jesus Christ Superstar and was
the vocal coach for Charlottetown Rural High
School's recent production of Cinderella.
She has also published
articles on Canada’s classical music scene in The Buzz and La Scena Musicale.
