Teaching Studio

All About Music offers private music lessons in piano, voice, trumpet, music theory and music history.

Lessons are weekly and last a half hour or one full hour, depending on the student's age and goals. They consist of on-going technical, theoretical and practical instruction, tailored to fit the students' individual needs and objectives.

I teach one-on-one lessons to students aged 6 to 96. It is never too late to learn to sing or play an instrument; all that is required is a keen interest and a willingness to practice.

My teaching philosophy

Learning to sing or play a musical instrument can be a very rewarding experience.

Many studies have shown that music lessons can improve a child's academic results and help people of all ages learn to multitask, meet deadlines, visualize success, and cope with pressure, critiques, short-term setbacks, and inertia. Music lessons help develop important life skills in young and old alike and provide an essential creative outlet through which people can express themselves.

All About Music's mission statement is to help people express themselves through music. As a teacher, I focus on self-expression and creativity with all my students. In addition to thoroughly covering the basic rudiments of music, I ask my students to put something of themselves into the music they create. As a result, music lessons are not just another responsibility in life, they are an outlet for self-expression and a source of enjoyment.

I believe that everyone is born with some degree of musical ability, and I am not alone. Educational Psychologist Howard Gardiner has theorized that we are all born with multiple intelligence in seven areas, one of which is musical. As a music educator, it is my goal to help students find their musical ability and nurture it.
